It's been a chilly January so far on Pine Island, but so far no hard frost to hurt the many tropical fruits that are growing on Pine Island right now: papaya, carambola (star fruit),
citrus, coconuts and bananas. Next weekend is the annual Taste of Pine Island at Phillips Park near the center of Pine Island (Jan 25 & 26) featuring some of our local seafood, and a chili and chowder cook-off.
