Commercial fisherman dock their shrimp boats in Matlacha Harbor. A great place to buy fresh shrimp is Andy's Island Seafood, where you can also get a take out lunch of fish chowder or fish sandwiches. Aquaculture also produces homegrown clams and talipia on Pine Island.
Some of the fish found in the waters surrounding Pine Island include sea trout, red fish, snook (season just opened Sept 1), cobia, snapper, triple tail, shark, tarpon, pompano, grouper and mackerel.
