As a buyer's agent, I almost always work with buyers moving to Pine Island, Florida. I thought it would be interesting to go back and track where my recent home buyers are coming from. Pine Island home buyers are coming from every region of the country, and from several international locations.
Snowbirds is the colloquial term for northerners who spend the winter months in Florida, but actually about one half of my clients are making a permanent move to Pine Island, while the rest are buying winter homes or homes for future retirement. Also, not all the "Snowbirds" are from up north,
more than a fifth come from Southern States (including Florida), and 2 came from California.
Here is my (non-scientific) study of where Pine Island home buyers are coming from, as far as my last 70 home buyers:
Western Region: 5 sales, one each from Kansas, Oregon, and Alaska, 2 California - 7%
Midwest Region: 15 sales, 8 Ohio, 3 Illinois, 3 Michigan, 1 Wisconsin - 21.4%
South Region: 15 sales 2 West VA, 2 North Carolina, 2 Georgia, 1 Arkansas, 8 Florida - 21.4%
Mid-Atlantic: 14 sales, 4 New Jersey, 8 Pennsylvania, 2 Maryland - 20%
New England: 17 sales, 1 Vermont, 5 Massachusetts, 9 New York, 2 Rhode Island - 24%
International: 4 sales, 2 Canada, 1 Ireland, 1 Czech Republic 5%
