Finally, the traditional rainy season has started on Pine Island, we've had showers a couple of times this week. I noticed on my bike ride today that things are greening up. The previously yellowing coconuts are starting to be green, bananas are getting ripe and yellow; mangos are getting pink, all signs of ripening.
Right now you can buy locally grown mango, coconut, lychee, bananas and other tropical fruits at road side stands on Pine Island. Agriculturally zoned land on Pine Island starts at about $25,000. per acre, though there are some larger parcels for sale (up to 10 acres) that the asking prices are about $17,000. per acre.
