Where to Rent a Kayak on Pine Island

Real estate has been pretty slow on Pine Island through the month of July, so in addition to fishing, I enjoyed kayaking for the first time in a couple of years with my daughter Sheena.  We rented kayaks Saturday out of the Tropic Star Cruises office at the public marina on the corner of Bowline Drive and Barrancas in northern Bokeelia.  It was really fun (though the water is warm as soup) and I was relieved to discover I still remembered how to kayak...it is actually pretty easy if the wind is not over 10 mph.
Kayak rental prices from Tropic Star are $30 for a half day for a single kayak and $40 for a half day for a double kayak.  You can also arrange to have a kayak taken out to paddle around Cayo Costa Island for a day for $40 and $50 respectively.  For more information about Tropic Star Cruises, go to http://www.tropicstarcruises.com/.
Other places to rent a kayak on Pine Island include Carmen's Kayaks at the Coast Connection on Portobello Road in Bokeelia, Knoll's Court Motel in Matlacha, and Gulf Coast Kayaks, also in Matlacha.  There is no better way to see Pine Island from the water than a leisurely and quiet paddle in a kayak.
