South east winds have been blowing up to 30 mph this week on Pine Island, and I am hoping they will blow some rain our way, it has been the driest winter and spring I can remember. The winds brought good wind surfing weather for my friends Cindy and Lisa and I took some pictures of them in Pine Island Sound yesterday. Also enjoyed horse backing riding and biking riding this week, though it is a bit challenging riding in the wind. Pine Island's 17 mile bike path, and hundreds of acres of agricultural land are great for both bike and horse riding. If you'd like a brochure showing Pine Island's various land use districts, I got some yesterday from the Greater Pine Island Civic Association. Email me at erikafoye@embarqmail.com. GPICA is having a meeting April 7 at 7 pm at the Elks. The GPICA supports the Pine Island Plan, which seeks to keep Pine Island's rural and low density land use.
