Even though this blog is about Pine Island, I may digress by showing you one of our dogs Jack August Foye. If you are a fan of the rock band "The Band" you of course know the song "The Weight" (take a load off Annie). In that song there is a line, "won't you please take Jack my dog". That is one of my favorite songs and so named our dog Jack. His middle name is named after my grandfather August Helwig (Gus).
Pine Island is a great place for dogs and dog lovers, because there is lots of open space for dogs to be dogs, and lots of shallow water for dogs to swim in the bay (without danger of alligators). Besides Jack, we also have a great mutt Daisy who will be featured on this blog one day.
