Pine Island's elementary school has consistently received an "A" grade based on student test scores, and is one of the best in Lee County. With only 474 students and a pupil/teacher ratio of 1 teacher per 19 students, Pine Island Elementary is very popular.
Average expenditures per student are $6,081.00 Nine percent of the students are classified as gifted.
Located near the center of Pine Island, Pine Island's school is also very close to the bike path, the library, and the recreation center with pool, playground, tennis courts and ball fields. Many of the students walk or ride bikes to school, though school bus service is provided by Lee County.
