April Flowers on Pine Island

April arrived warm and windy on Pine Island this week.  There was a big thunderstorm on Thursday and I noticed on my bike ride today many flowers have come into bloom. Three of my favorites are the red bottlebrush flower (with the bee in this photo), gardenia Calla lily.   I'm not sure what the purple flower is.

In May, expect another riot of color from frangi pangi, silk floss trees, royal Poinciana, and jacaranda trees, to name of few.  Our sub-tropical climate allows for an incredible variety of flora and fauna to thrive on Pine Island, Florida, making it a gardener's and bird watchers paradise.
