Finally, our summer time rains have arrived, preceded by big thunder heads in the afternoon, like this one. Winds whipped up to near 50 mph yesterday, though we only got about 1/2 inch of rain, there was some awesome thunder and lightning. Early this week, lightning struck a palm grove in Bokeelia, causing a fire that was fortunately quickly put out by our Pine Island fire fighters. On that note, the new Bokeelia fire station has the roof on and hopefully will be complete this year.
