Pine Island is home to many species of birds and has more than 5,000. acres of parks or nature preserves. Just a few of the interesting birds you may often see include woodstorks (I took a photo of this one high in a tree last week), bald eagles, hawks, swallow tail kites, orioles, jays, cardinals, ibis, spoonbills, osprey, meadowlark, egrets and herons of all types.
