It's been a really lovely Spring on Pine Island, though summer is around the corner. Yesterday we hit the low 90's, typical for late May. Here are a few photo's from around the island. Especially striking are the Royal Poinciana trees, now in full bloom all over Pine Island, with some especially flamboyant trees at Randell Research Center in Pineland.
Interestingly, Royal Poinciana (known as Flame Tree in Australia) now grows in almost every warm climate on the planet, and blooms world wide in various locations, during different growing seasons. In south Florida, the growing season is May and June.
Some of the other places they grow are: Bangladesh, Egypt, Vietnam, Caribbean, India, Australia, United Arab Emirates, Brazil, Sudan, Thailand, Philippines, Peru, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Hong Kong, Israel, Hawaii and Mauritius.
