In the last days of 2015, it was great to see lots of birds, including a big flock of white pelicans, in the company of wood storks, egrets and roseate spoonbills just off the pier in Pineland. Friday morning a rare cold front swept in from Charlotte Harbor, bringing rain and the first sweater weather in 9 or 10 months. It is great to wear jeans, and a sweater for a change. Yesterday I baked mango cakes
from mangos I picked from my trees in September, peeled and froze. That's my one little bit of Christmas baking this year. By Christmas eve it is supposed to be back in the high 80's degrees range, really too hot to even cook a turkey in the house. I'm considering seafood paella instead.
Wishing everyone a happy new year, from beautiful Bokeelia.
