Kapok Trees in Bloom on Bokeelia, FL. 33922

As October draws to a close the temperatures are cooling off nicely, and the Gulf temperatures are down in the low 80's.  Had a delightful morning paddle boarding yesterday.   Another sign of fall is the blooming of silk floss (also known as kapok) trees around the island.  I believe these trees are native to Southeast Asia but they grow prolifically around Pine Island.

This one near Howard Road is covered with white/pink blossoms.  There are others that are deep crimson colored.
