Last mangos of summer, first eagles of Fall on Pine Island

My Zimbio
Top Stories Friends and readers, I've neglected my blog all summer, due to lots of business in building and real estate and my 90 year old mother's illnesses.  Now I'm back to covering life (or my life!) on beautiful Pine Island.

This weekend I picked the last of 20 or so Keitt Mangos on the trees in my back yard, unusually late to still have mangos on the tree.  I'm peeling them, freezing them, and planning on doing some baking when the weather cools off.

Last week, biking in Bokeelia, I saw the first nesting pair of bald eagles I've seen since Spring on Pine Island.  This pair was up on Howard Road.  I've seen several other eagles flying around, but this was the first nesting pair I've seen this fall.  Eagles seem early (while mangos are late) this year, usually I don't see them until October.

Another exciting event that happened to me recently, was while paddle boarding, I unintentionally drifted over a large manatee near the shore in Pineland!  It was as surprised as I was and surfaced bumping my board (I stayed on!) and then raced off with several swift tail flaps.  Very exciting and cool!  It was about 10 feet long!

To find out more about Pine Island, and to get my Pine Island real estate market watch, email me at erikafoye@embarqmail.com.  Quarterly sales stat's to follow later this week! best, Erika Foye
