Top Stories It was a beautiful morning in Bokeelia, I got up early for a bike ride so I could watch the full moon setting over Pine Island Sound. The pier in Pineland is an ideal spot for viewing sunsets, and moonsets, and you'll also see lots of fish jumping, the occasional dolphin, boats and kayaks and many different birds, including ibis, osprey, herons of all types, kingfishers, spoonbills, gulls, pelicans and woodstorks.
You can also imagine how the world looked to the ancient Calusa tribes who lived here more than 400 years ago, maybe not so very different from today.
