Spring arrives on Pine Island

My Zimbio
Top Stories

It's warmed up since last weekend's cold spell and I saw this newly hatched gopher tortoise munching grass outside my office yesterday, a sure sign that Spring is here.   This one is about the size of a tennis ball. Meanwhile, a few white pelicans (winter residents here) were still lingering up at Jug Creek, but by March they will migrate north.

There's always so many beautiful scenes of nature to enjoy on Pine Island, the changes in season are more subtle here, than "up north" but changes there are.  Soon the young eagles that hatched here last month will be testing their wings, I will try to get a photograph of that!
