Horses and Horse Keeping on Pine Island, Florida

My friend and client, Ken Martin, put on a demonstration of his considerable skills as a farrier (person who cares for horses hoofs and shoes them) this week at the St. James Civic Association. Another friend of mine Jeanne Burnett, provided her horses, Patches and Tucker, as the "show and tell" animals. The demonstration was really interesting and the horses were incredibly well behaved, despite passing motorcycles, bicycles, pitbulls etc. I have been showing some horse properties this week. About 1/2 of Pine Island land is zoned agricultural but there are not that many agricultural properties for sale. I think there are somewhere between 30 and 50 horse owners on Pine Island, and I hope more will move here! If you are looking for a farrier on Pine Island, (or anywhere is Southwest, Florida) you can't go wrong with Ken Martin, whose phone # is 239-283-3121. He and his wife Jill moved to Bokeelia last summer and he is taking on new horse clients for his farrier business. Ken trims my horses hoofs and also my burro Sparky!
